Proposal

This modern split level four-bedroom property was working against the family; lacking enough dining space for the whole family to be able to eat together, and missing a dedicated play area for the little ones, which includes foster children.

The integral garage was relatively underused and so has been converted in to a bright cosy playroom. A garage conversion is one of the most cost-effective ways of creating more space in a home, and so on a limited budget, this was the ideal solution. The new playroom opens off the central hallway close to the lounge, and includes a laundry room which has in turn created more storage space in the kitchen.

Positioned in an underused corner of the garden, connected directly to the existing kitchen, a modest single storey extension is proposed to provide space for a dining table, allowing all members of the family to eat together; a simple but significant shared activity. These two relatively small building projects have made a significant difference in supporting everyday family life
